Discovery

Discovery is Daft Punk's second studio album. It was recorded in during the years of 1998-2000 and released March 13th 2001 by Virgin Records. The album was produced by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. The total running time of the album is 61:01. There is an evident use of sampling on this album, with most if not all of the songs having at least one sample of another artist.

In 2001, Daft Punk collaborated with japanese manga/anime director Leiji Matsumoto. The effect of their work was Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem was a full-length anime feature produced by Matsumoto and written by Daft Punk and Cédric Hervet. It is the first animated house musical in the history.
The movie contains no dialogue, only some minimalistic sound effects. The story of the film is narrated by songs from Discovery.

Limited edition of Discovery on Enhanced CD was released in 2001, only in Japan, for Interstella 5555 additional promotion. Limited edition contains booklet with new and unreleased Daft Punk pictures from their japanese session.
