Da Funk

From Daft Wiki

Da Funk single cover

Da Funk (1996) - Daft Punk first official single from their debut album Homework. Whole song is created from a raw, hip-hop rhythm and repeated, characteristic guitar riff. This single was selling even better than Homework. Small part of this song played backwards is used in a typical album filler track - Funk Ad - the last track from Homework.

The song supposedly samples the funk song "Get It Up for Love" by Tata Vega or, alternatively, "Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll" by Vaughn Mason and Crew.

[edit] B-side

Main article: Musique

B-side from Da Funk is an almost 7 minutes long track called Musique, which small part can be heard in WDPK 83.7, a short skit contained on Homework.

[edit] Videoclip

Videoclip for Da Funk was directed by Spike Jonze. It's a story about a half dog-half human called Charles, who is walking through the New York City with an old, broken ghettoblaster with Da Funk playing on it. Video can be watched on Daft Punk Musique website and on Youtube.
